Built in the field.
Proven by the work.
Gradient was developed inside Morning Star to improve irrigation decisions across large, complex growing operations.
Who is Gradient?
Gradient is a precision irrigation intelligence system that helps you see the full picture behind every water decision.
We connect multiple field signals with agronomic interpretation to deliver clear, practical guidance you can use in the field.
Behind Gradient is a team of experienced people who care deeply about agriculture and helping growers succeed. We believe better irrigation practices can help you strengthen your operation, improve water efficiency, and support a more sustainable future for agriculture.
Our goal is to make complex field information easier to understand, so you can make more confident decisions without adding more complication to your day.
Our Vision
To be the most trusted irrigation monitoring and decision-support service for growers, improving water efficiency, yield outcomes, and operational confidence.
Built Inside Morning Star
Gradient began as a research and development initiative within Morning Star, created to optimize irrigation across large-scale tomato production.
Years of field testing shaped it into a system built to support the complexity of real growing operations.
Today, we work directly with growers to continue improving the platform and expanding its capabilities, with ongoing development focused on supporting additional crops over time.
Our Mission
To work alongside growers, providing greater visibility, intelligent technology, and practical guidance needed to make more confident irrigation decisions that improve yield, quality, profitability, and sustainable production practices.
The Full Picture Takes More Than One Signal
No single data source tells the whole story. Gradient brings four critical field signals together to create a clearer picture.
Weather Intelligence
Understand the atmospheric conditions influencing the field and crop. Combine Evapotranspiration (ET) with in-field weather conditions and weather forecasts to understand how upcoming environmental conditions will impact crop water needs and prepare accordingly.
Satellite Intelligence
Identify broader patterns and variability across the field. Receiving multiple satellite images per week, combined with access to historical imagery, allows for in-depth comparisons and a better understanding of how field conditions change over time.
Gradient Decision Engine & Support
Connects the signals and turns them into clear irrigation guidance.
Soil Moisture Intelligence
See how moisture conditions are changing at monitored locations. Understanding soil moisture movement is critical to promoting healthy root development and ensuring adequate moisture is available throughout the root zone for crop uptake.
Crop Stress Intelligence
Understand crop stress signals and how plants respond to changing field conditions.
Meet the Team
Our team interprets field conditions, provides recommendations, and supports growers throughout the season.
